St. Louis-based packaging distributor TricorBraun announced Sept. 21 it has signed an agreement to acquire Mark’s Barrel Company (MBC). Financial details of the transaction, which is expected to close in October, were not disclosed.
“Over the last 26 years, MBC has established a strong reputation in the industrial packaging and reconditioning industry for quality, service, and efficiency,” TricorBraun senior vice president of market development Brian McCarthy said. “Partnering with MBC is a tremendous opportunity to continue to provide our customers with more sustainable options.”
Utah-based MBC was founded in 1996, prior to which it had been known as Reclaim Barrel and Allstate Container, according to its website. MBC specializes in the conditioning and recycling of industrial containers, including steel and plastic barrels, drums and intermediate bulk containers (IBCs).
“Partnering with TricorBraun will allow us to take our company to the next step in our growth — for the benefit of our team members and customers,” MBC president Mark Schwietz said.
All MBC employees will remain with TricorBraun following the transaction, according to a news release, and will continue to work out of MBC’s facility in West Jordan, Utah, just southwest of Salt Lake City. Effective upon closing of the transaction, Mark’s Barrel Company will operate as TricorBraun Industrial Services, according to the release.
