A busy acquisition spring for Sonepar continues with another sizable acquisition.
The electrical distributor shared May 30 that its subsidiary Northeast Electrical inked a deal to acquire Electric Supply Center — a New England-based distributor with six branches across Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
Set to close by the end of June, the deal will add 130 associates to Sonepar’s headcount.
The pending acquisition news follows Sonepar closing on two major deals at the start of May in the form of Michigan-based Madison Electric and Standard Electric, which added a combined 36 locations and 550 associates to the company’s U.S. footprint.
Family-owned since 1997, ESC has a full line of electrical products and a range of value-added services that cater to commercial contractor customers. The company is headquartered in Burlington, MA.
“ESC’s solid reputation and strong relationships with Boston contractors make this acquisition a great market expansion opportunity for NorthEast Electrical,” Sonepar Americas President Rob Taylor said in a May 30 news release. “As a company with above-market growth and a highly motivated team, ESC will be an excellent addition to Sonepar.”
On the fall of 2023, The National Hockey League’s Boston Bruins and ESC partnered to make ESC the Bruins’ official electrical distributor for the 2023-24 season.
“ESC has an impressive history, long-standing vendor relationships, and a strong customer base that makes this an excellent strategic partnership,” added Frank Marandino, President of NorthEast Electrical. “In joining forces with their expert lighting and switchgear teams, we will have enhanced, knowledgeable and professional resources to service and support our customers.”

With impressive resources and capabilities, we feel Sonepar is the right choice to secure our future. We appreciate the integrity and positive culture at NorthEast and look forward to positioning our business and associates for long-term growth.”
