The M&A binge continues for Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, as the Alpaharetta, Georgia-based safety products distributor announced its acquisition of Vanguard Fire & Security Systems on May 3. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 1957, Vanguard is a provider of solutions and services for fire protection, life safety and security systems. The company inspects, maintains and installs fire alarms, sprinklers, special hazard, kitchen suppression and security and CCTV systems. It also provides 24/7 emergency service, fire extinguishers, mobile fire pumps and central monitoring.
Vanguard is based in Grand Rapids, Michigan and operates additional locations in Kalamazoo, Saginaw and Detroit, as well as a Texas location in Pasadena, just southeast of Houston. The acquisition is Pye-Barker’s first venture into Michigan, which becomes the 35th state within Pye-Barker’s footprint, according to a news release.
“We’ve been thoroughly impressed with the respect and professionalism of Pye-Barker’s leadership, starting with Bart Proctor, Jason Brinkman, Chuck Reimel, down to their legal counsel,” Vanguard President Diane Thomas said in the release. “We’re thrilled to align with Pye-Barker and their perfectly matched business values.”
“Like Vanguard and the Thomas family, Pye-Barker is committed to customer service excellence and offering a company culture that provides professional advancement for its team members,” Pye-Barker CEO Bart Proctor said in the release. “We’re honored the Thomas family chose to partner with us.”
Vanguard is Pye-Barker’s third acquisition of 2023, following Montana-based sprinkler services company IT&M Division in February and New Jersey-based Bevan Security Systems in January. Pye-Barker made 23 acquisitions in 2022 and issued an open call to sellers earlier this year as the distributor looks to continue its aggressive expansion.
