Longview, Washington-based Mallory Safety and Supply announced Feb. 28 its acquisition of JG Tucker & Son, a distributor of safety products in the Los Angeles area. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. Mallory was listed among MDM’s Top Safety Products Distributors in 2022.
Based just east of Los Angeles in Covina, California, JG Tucker & Son has been providing southern California with a variety of MRO services — including safety equipment, instrument rental and repair, and more — since 1929.
“This acquisition is a win-win for everyone involved,” JG Tucker & Son CEO David Tucker said in a news release. “Our customers will benefit from Mallory’s expertise and expanded services, and Mallory will be able to better serve existing customers in the Los Angeles area.”
David Tucker is a member of the Tucker family that founded JG Tucker & Son nearly a century ago. He didn’t have a succession plan in place to continue to the family business, he said, so he decided to sell.
“As a fourth-generation Tucker, this business runs in my blood,” Tucker said. “I was fortunate to work alongside my mother, father and grandfather. But I didn’t have a fifth generation lined up and we lacked some of the resources of our larger peers, so we looked around for a partner we could join that would share our safety passion and bring resources that would allow us to serve our customers even better.”
Mallory has integrated its Ontario, California branch into JG Tucker’s 10,000-square-foot Covina location for better-consolidated service in the Los Angeles and southern California markets, according to the release. With the acquisition, Mallory now has over 30 locations across the U.S., Mallory CEO Tim Loy said in the release.
“JG Tucker and Sons has a long history of providing excellent MRO services in the Los Angeles area, and we’re proud to have them join the Mallory family,” Loy said. “With this acquisition, we’re excited to expand our reach and offer our customers even more top-quality services and support.”
