On May 10, Minnesota-based building supply distributor MacArthur Company acquired wholesale HVAC distributor American Metals Supply. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Missouri-based American Metals Supply is a wholesale distributor of sheet and coil steel, prefabricated duct & fittings, and a complete line of HVAC products. The company has nine branch locations and offers product distribution in 12 states.
“We looked for a buyer who would enable us to keep our focus on our product mix, which is one of our key differentiators, and not have any duplication in locations,” said American Metals President Chrissy Nardini in a post on the company’s Facebook and LinkedIn pages. “MacArthur Company provides us with a compatible culture fit, strong financial fundamentals and the ability for future employees to continue to achieve financial success.”
MacArthur is an employee-owned company. American Metals Supply employees will join MacArthur’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
MacArthur CEO Barrett Moen said American Metals Supply shares its approach to business.
“With the acquisition of AMS, both companies will be able to provide our customers with an enhanced portfolio of products,” he said.
As a result of the transaction, long-time executive Steve Hassebrock, who played an integral role in the company founded by his father, will transition out of the company. In 2006, Nardini assumed the role of president, succeeding her father, Hassebrock.
