HVAC vendor Bluon announced Thursday that it has acquired XREF Publishing Company, which is a provider of replacement part and cross reference part information that’s used by HVAC distributors in the U.S. Financial terms of the transaction weren’t available.
XREF is a brand-agnostic, cross reference engine for distributors. It enables them to identify what replacement part is compatible with their customers’ specific needs within their local inventory. With the addition of XREF’s database, Bluon said it’s well positioned to help local technicians find and acquire replacement parts from their local distributors at a faster rate.
With the addition of XREF, technicians will soon be able to interact with their local distributors and exchange real-time information about replacement parts directly from within the Bluon platform.
Irvine, Calif.-based Bluon continues to experience growth for its HVAC support platform. The platform, which currently serves 65,000 of the nation’s HVAC service technicians, is a mobile app that aggregates detailed technical information on more than 40,000 unique HVAC models.
“The XREF acquisition marks a huge milestone for Bluon, in our evolution from a sticky support platform loved by technicians, to enabling the existing marketplace between contractors and local distributors to operate much more effectively and efficiently,” said Bluon Executive Vice President Scott Pierson.
Existing XREF customers will benefit from the deal by using an improved interface to access the XREF data. Starting next year, they will also be able to receive transaction requests, via the XREF data, from their local customers using the Bluon app and support platform.
