Wastewater, storm drainage and fire protection distributor Core & Main announced Oct. 3 the closing of its previously announced acquisition of the municipal waterworks division of Trumbull Industries and an affiliated entity. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“We are thrilled to expand our presence in Ohio and Pennsylvania,” Core & Main CEO Steve LeClair said. “The local knowledge and expertise their team brings enable us to deliver on our shared commitment to deliver quality products and outstanding customer service to the region.”

Trumbull’s waterworks division operates four branches in Youngstown and Akron, Ohio, and Bentleyville and Meadville, Pennsylvania. St. Louis-based Core & Main — ranked as the No. 10 industrial distributor on Modern Distribution Management’s 2022 Top Distributor list — has over 300 locations nationwide.

“The municipal waterworks division of Trumbull Industries, Inc. has a long history of excellence in the industry,” Core & Main Waterworks president Jack Schaller said. “Its dedicated team’s commitment to exceptional service makes it a perfect addition to the Core & Main family.”

One day later, Core & Main announced the opening of its newest facility in Fort Collins, Colorado. The company said the location will extend Core & Main’s offerings in northern Colorado and adjacent states, including Wyoming and enable more efficient service because customers will no longer need to travel to Denver for material. The company’s north region vice president added that the Fort Collins facility will allow Core & Main to expand its PVF sales along with high-density polyethylene products and fusion equipment rentals in northern Colorado and southern Wyoming.

“The Fort Collins location will extend Core & Main’s offerings in northern Colorado and adjacent states, including Wyoming,” said Jack Schaller, president of Core & Main Waterworks. “This step in our growth strategy builds on our commitment to make our products and expertise more accessible nationwide,” Schaller said.
