Private equity firm Sycamore Partners is in advanced talks to acquire Staples Inc (NASDAQ: SPLS), Framingham, MA, following an auction for the U.S. office supplies retailer in a deal that could top $6 billion, according to a Reuters report.
The acquisition would come a year after a merger between Staples and Office Depot Inc was halted on antitrust grounds by a U.S. district court judge's ruling.
