SureWerx, Elgin, IL, a supplier of professional tools, equipment, and safety products, has acquired the Jackson Safety and WILSON Safety brands from Kimberly-Clark Professional (KCP), a global supplier of workplace products and solutions.
The acquisition includes the industrial welding business along with select portions of the industrial personal protective equipment (PPE) businesses. These include welding helmets, welding accessories, welding powered air purifying respirators (PAPR), welding barriers, industrial respiratory, face protection, head protection, and hearing protection categories. Kimberly-Clark Professional has retained the eye protection and glove product portfolios and they are working toward a rebrand on those products.
The sale is part of Kimberly-Clark Professional’s ongoing effort to streamline its global safety and scientific businesses and accelerate growth across its PPE categories, and is consistent with the goals of the company’s global restructuring program announced in January 2018, the company said.
“Divesting the welding and select non-core categories will allow us to focus on our primary PPE categories – apparel, gloves, and eyewear,” said Aaron Powell, Global President, Kimberly-Clark Professional. “By bringing these three categories together, we can focus on delivering solutions for workers in the advanced manufacturing segment and drive even greater scale across our growing global Personal Protection Equipment business.
