Belgian manufacturer Beaulieu International Group (B.I.G.) has acquired a controlling interest in Opus Group of Companies, a Russian flooring distribution business.
"The transaction has been a remarkable event for the Russian M&A market this summer, reconfirming strong existing long-term commercial interest of large global strategic players in the Russian market despite the challenging economic and geopolitical environment," said Anna Klein, a director at Lincoln International, which served as financial advisor for the transaction.
Moscow-based Opus has seven warehouses and two representative offices throughout Russia. Opus has an annual turnover of more than €180 million (US$241 million) and about 300 employees. In 2014, OPUS plans to open multiproduct warehouses in Rostov and Samara.
B.I.G. produces raw materials and a range of floor coverings. B.I.G. has 3,500 employees in 26 plants and nine sales offices in 13 countries. In 2012, the Beaulieu International Group´s turnover was €1.4 billion (US$1.8 billion).
