United Natural Foods Inc. (UNFI), Providence, on Tuesday reported fiscal fourth-quarter net sales of $6.7 billion, a decrease of 0.5% from the same quarter a year ago. The organic and specialty foods distributor reported net income of $43 million in 4Q, a decrease of 18.9% from a year ago.
For fiscal 2021, UNFI posted net sales of $27. billion, an increase of 1.5%, while net income came in at $149 million. UNFI expects full-year earnings in the range of $3.90 to $4.20 per share, with revenue in the range of $27.8 billion to $28.3 billion.
“I see significant opportunity to accelerate the value we create with and for our customers as well as the opportunity to make our operations more effective and efficient, both leading to continued profitable growth within our estimated $140 billion addressable market,” said CEO Sandy Douglas, who took over that role less than two months ago.
