SPX Corp., Charlotte, NC, reported sales for the first quarter of $340.6 million, down 5.5 percent from the same period a year ago. First-quarter profit was $17.4 million, up from $13 million in the first quarter of 2016.
HVAC sales for the quarter were $110.1 million, up 1.5 percent from a year ago.
