Consumer products company Spectrum Brands Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: SPB), Middleton, WI, reported third quarter sales of $1.3 billion, down 4.3 percent from the same period a year ago. The company reported a profit of $78.6 million, down 24.6 percent from 2016.
In the third quarter, global batteries and appliance sales decreased 2.9 percent, hardware and home improvement decreased 1.2 percent and global pet supplies decreased 8.3 percent. Home and garden decreased 9.2 parent and global auto care decreased 2.5 percent.
Sales for the first nine months were reported at $3.7 billion, down 2.8 percent year-over-year. Profit was $201 million, down 25.1 percent.
