Kimball Midwest, Columbus, OH, No. 40 on MDM's list of top industrial distributors, is expanding their corporate headquarters and distribution center in Columbus.
Construction is underway on a 168,000 square foot expansion of the facility. Work began before the start of summer and is expected to be completed in full by early 2015. The warehouse portion of the expansion is estimated to be complete by December 2014 while the office space should be move-in ready in March 2015.
“We are changing the layout of the facility to give us improved efficiencies as well as better position ourselves to handle our dynamic growth,” says Steve Good, director of operations.
Kimball Midwest has made significant investments to upgrade mechanicals and lighting over the past couple of years to improve energy efficiency. The headquarters has plans to continue the use of LED lighting and occupancy sensors in the distribution center.
With the expansion, the company expects to add an additional 50 jobs to the Columbus area, starting in 2015.
Kimball Midwest currently operates nationwide out of distribution centers in Columbus, Dallas, and Reno with plans to open a new distribution center in Savannah, GA in late 2014.
