Swedish polymers manufacturer HEXPOL reported sales for the second quarter of SEK 2.1 billion (US$307.1 million), up 4 percent year-over-year. Profit increased 13 percent to SEK 258 million (US$37.7 million).
"Our volume development was positive and volumes improved in all geographic regions compared with the year-earlier period," said Georg Brunstam, president and CEO. "Gratifying is that volumes in Europe continued to recover."
During the quarter, HEXPOL agreed to acquire Kardoes Rubber Co., a U.S. rubber compounder.
Year-to-date sales were SEK 4.3 billion (US$628.9 million), up 5 percent over the prior-year period. Profit increased 17 percent to SEK 520 million (US$76.1 million).
