Badger Meter Inc. (NYSE: BMI), Milwaukee, WI, reported third-quarter sales of $96.3 million, a 3.1 percent year-over-year decrease. Profit increased 5.6 percent to $8.8 million.
For the first nine months, sales were $300.7 million, up 6.6 percent year-over-year. Profit grew 28 percent to $26.2 million.
"The decrease in third quarter sales reflected a softening of order input early in the third quarter, however sales in the remainder of the quarter came in as anticipate," said Richard Meeusen, president and CEO. "Our sales of residential and commercial municipal water products into the Middle East were lower than in the third quarter of last year."
Badger Meter is a manufacturer of flow measurement, control and communications solutions, serving water utilities, municipalities, and commercial and industrial customers.
