Badger Meter Inc. (NYSE: BMI), Milwaukee, WI, reported second-quarter sales of $103.8 million, a 5 percent year-over-year increase. Profit increased 19 percent to $9.4 million.
For the first six months, sales were $204.4 million, up 12 percent year-over-year. Profit grew 43.4 percent to $17.4 million.
Sales of residential and commercial municipal water products, particularly commercial metering products and technology solutions, drove the sales increase, according to Richard Meeusen, president and CEO.
The higher second quarter municipal water product sales more than offset lower sales of flow instrumentation products, which continued to be impacted by softness in the industrial markets the company serves.
Badger Meter is a manufacturer of flow measurement, control and communications solutions, serving water utilities, municipalities, and commercial and industrial customers.
