United Rentals, Inc. (NYSE: URI), Stamford, Connecticut, reported sales of $2.5 billion for the third quarter, up 17.6% compared to a year ago. Earnings were $391 million, up 17.4% compared with a year ago.
For the first nine months sales grew 19.2% to $5.9 billion. Profit increased 6.4% to $836 million.
