The Timken Company (NYSE: TKR), North Canton, OH, reported sales for the third quarter of $788 million, up 8 percent year-over-year. Profit decreased to a net loss of $14.8 million.

Mobile industries sales in the third quarter increased 3 percent year-over-year. Process industries sales increased 16 percent, while aerospace sales were essentially flat compared to last year's third-quarter sales.

Year-to-date sales were $2.3 billion, up 1.2 percent over the prior-year period. Profit decreased 37.5 percent to $131.4 million.
