Packaging Corporation of America (NYSE: PKG), Lake Forest, IL, reported third-quarter sales of $1.5 billion, a 3.2 percent decrease year-over-year. Profit increased 22.4 percent to $127.8 million.
For the first nine months of the year, sales were $4.4 billion, down 1.5 percent over the prior-year period. Profit increased 13.1 percent to $332.6 million.
