Owens & Minor Inc. (NYSE: OMI), Richmond, VA, reported third-quarter sales of $2.4 billion, up 5.1 percent over the same period a year ago. Profit was $7.2 million, compared to year-ago profit of $28 million.
For the nine months ended Sept. 30, sales were $6.95 billion, an increase of 2.9 percent when compared to consolidated revenues for the same period of 2013. Profit was $52.5 million, compared to $82.9 million a year ago.
Domestic segment revenues for the third quarter were $2.3 billion, an increase of 4 percent when compared to the prior year's third quarter. For the year-to-date period, domestic segment revenues grew 1.9 percent to $6.6 billion.
The international segment had third-quarter sales of $124 million, improved 30.7 percent year-over-year. For the year-to-date period, sales were $349.8 million, up 25.4 percent.
