Owens & Minor Inc. (NYSE: OMI), Richmond, VA, reported full year sales for 2014 of $9.4 billion, an increase of 4 percent from the previous year. Profit decreased 40 percent to $66.5 million.
Sales for the fourth quarter were $2.5 billion, a 7.5 percent increase over the same period a year ago. Profit decreased 50 percent to $14 million.
Domestic segment sales for the fourth quarter were $2.4 billion, an increase of 6.3 percent year-over-year. For the full year, sales increased 3 percent to $9 billion.
International segment sales increased 32.4 percent to $138.5 million in the fourth quarter. For 2014, sales were $488.3 million, up 27.3 percent.
In 2014, Owens & Minor completed the acquisitions of Medical Action Industries and ArcRoyal. These two acquisitions expand the company's capabilities in the assembly of surgical and procedure kits, packs and trays in the U.S. and European healthcare markets.
