Myers Industries Inc. (NYSE: MYE), Akron, OH, a manufacturer of material handling and tire repair products, reported second-quarter sales of $144.1 million, a 12.3 percent decrease over the same period a year ago. Profit fell 51.9 percent to $5.5 million.
Material handling segment sales for the quarter were down 13 percent year-over-year and distribution segment sales were down 11 percent.
Sales for the first six months were $295.3 million, down 7.9 percent year-over-year. Profit fell 87.4 percent to $2.1 million.
