Myers Industries Inc. (NYSE: MYE), Akron, OH, a manufacturer of material handling and tire repair products, reported second-quarter sales of $142.3 million, a 1.3 percent decrease over the same period a year ago. Profit fell 64.6 percent to $2 million.

Material handling segment sales for the quarter were up 2.1 percent year-over-year and distribution segment sales were down 9.2 percent.

Sales for the first six months were $284 million, down 3.8 percent year-over-year. Profit grew 118.9 percent to $5.1 million.
