The Manitowoc Company Inc. (NYSE: MTW), Manitowoc, WI, reported sales for the second quarter of $457.7 million, a decrease of 4 percent year-over-year. The company reported a loss of $4.9 million in the quarter, compared to a profit of $23.3 million the prior year.
“During the second quarter, our sales were further impacted by a challenging market environment on a number of levels, particularly in Mobile cranes in the Americas," said Barry L. Pennypacker, president & CEO. "This weakness was in part offset by strength in Tower cranes."
Year-to-date sales were $885.1 million, up 0.1 percent over the prior-year period. The company reported a loss of $212.4 million, compared to a profit of $14.9 million the prior year.
