Ingersoll-Rand plc (NYSE: IR), Swords, Ireland, reported first-quarter sales of $3.6 billion, a 22.6% increase compared to the same period a year ago. The company reported a loss of $2.1 million, compared to a loss of $9.4 million the previous year.
