Ingersoll-Rand plc (NYSE: IR), Swords, Ireland, reported sales for the second quarter of $3.9 billion, a 6 percent increase over the same period a year ago. Profit decreased 52 percent to $358.6 million. Organic sales increased 7 percent.
Industrial segment sales for the second quarter were $764.6 million, a 1.5 percent increase year-over-year. Climate segment sales were up 7.1 percent to $3.1 billion.
For the first six months, sales were $6.9 billion, a 5 percent increase over the same period a year ago. Profit decreased 47.1 percent to $475.7 million.
