Ingersoll-Rand plc (NYSE: IR), Swords, Ireland, reported sales for the second quarter of $3.6 billion, a 2 percent increase over the same period a year ago. Profit fell 74.2 percent to $78.9 million.
Industrial segment sales were $785 million, a 1 percent decrease year-over-year. Climate segment sales were $2.8 billion for the second quarter, an increase of 2 percent compared to the same period a year earlier.
For the first six months, sales were $6.5 billion, a 3.5 percent increase over the same period a year ago. Profit fell 66.2 percent to $130.2 million.
