Hexcel Corp. (NYSE: HXL), Stamford, CT, reported sales for the first quarter of $471.8 million, an increase of 2.2 percent compared to the same period a year ago, driven by an 8.3 percent increase in commercial aerospace. Profit increased 35.9 percent to $68.1 million.
Industrial sales were $62.6 million for the first quarter, flat compared to the first quarter of 2014.
Commercial aerospace sales for the quarter were $320.3 million, an increase of 5.6 percent compared to the same period the prior year.
Space and defense sales decreased 7 percent year-over-year to $88.9 million in the first quarter.
