Grainger (NYSE: GWW), Chicago, IL, reported daily sales for May were flat compared to the same period a year ago. Results for the month included a 1 percent increase from acquisitions and a 3 percent decrease from unfavorable foreign exchange.
Excluding acquisitions and foreign exchange, organic sales increased 2 percent driven by 3 percentage points from volume, partially offset by a 1 percentage point decline in price.
U.S. segment sales were up 1 percent year-over-year and Canadian segment sales were down 11 percent, 1 percent in local currency. Other businesses segment sales increased 11 percent compared to May 2014, or 26 percent in local currency.
