Grainger (NYSE: GWW), Chicago, IL, reported sales for November declined 2 percent compared to the same period a year ago. Results for the month included a 4 percentage point contribution from Cromwell Group (Holdings) Ltd, acquired Sept. 1, and a 3 percentage point reduction from foreign exchange.
Excluding acquisitions and foreign exchange, organic sales declined 3 percent driven by a 1 percentage point decline in price and a 2 percentage point decline from lower sales of seasonal and safety products.
U.S. segment sales were down 5 percent year-over-year and Canadian segment sales were down 27 percent, 14 percent in local currency. Other businesses segment sales increased 40 percent compared to November 2014, or 51 percent in local currency.
