Fastenal Co. (Nasdaq: FAST), Winona, MN, reported sales for April of $343.8 million, a 3.7 percent year-over-year increase. Daily sales increased 8.9 percent to an average of $17.2 million.
During the month, sales to manufacturing customers increased 7.1 percent, while sales to nonresidential construction customers increased 6.6 percent.
Store count was 2,482, compared to 2,630 a year ago. Two new stores were opened during the quarter. Total employee headcount fell 2.6 percent year-over-year to 19,883. The total headcount includes the addition of 125 employees from the acquisition of Mansco.
