Bunzl plc, the international distribution and outsourcing group, has acquired three companies – one each in the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Czech Republic. Terms of the deals weren't disclosed.
The company acquired Tri-Star Packaging Supplies, which is based near London and has three other branches in England and Scotland. The company distributes food packaging and foodservice products, as well as some cleaning and hygiene consumables. Sales in 2015 were £28 million (US$34.2 million).
It also acquired Kingsbury Packaging, Limavady, Northern Ireland, which supplies food packaging related products to convenience stores and food retailers in Ireland. Sales in 2015 were £6.1 million.
And it acquired Blyth, a Prague-based distributor of a broad range of personal protection equipment to a variety of end user customers throughout the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Sales in 2015 were CZK182 million (US$7.4 million).
Bunzl also reported that group revenue in the third quarter increased 7 percent compared to the same period last year, with 3 percent due to acquisitions and 4 percent due to the impact of additional trading days relative to the comparable period last year principally due to acquisitions.
