Bunzl plc, the international distribution and outsourcing group, has acquired two companies in Canada and has agreed to acquire a company in Hungary. Terms of the deals weren't disclosed.
Bunzl acquired Plus II Sanitation Supplies Inc., Montreal, Quebec, a supplier of cleaning and hygiene related products to distributors serving the janitorial, foodservice and industrial sectors across Canada. The company reported 2015 sales of C$32 million (US$24.5 million).
It also acquired Apex Sanitation Products Ltd, Toronto, Ontario, which distributes similar products, as well as provides related maintenance and training services to end user customers operating in the facilities management, education, health care and government sectors in Canada. The company reported 2015 sales of C$12 million (US$9.2 million).
Bunzl also agreed to purchase Silwell Kft, Budapest, Hungary, a supplier of a variety of disposable foodservice items both to distributors and end users in the hotel, restaurant and catering sectors in Hungary. The company reported 2015 sales of HUF2.7 billion (US$9.7 million).
Bunzl also reported sales for the first six months of £3.5 billion (US$4.6 billion), up 10 percent from the same period a year ago. Profit was £155.6 million (US$203.7 million), up 7 percent from 2015.
