Swedish manufacturer Atlas Copco (STO: ATCOA, ATCOB), Nacka, Sweden, reported revenues for the third quarter of SEK 23.6 billion (US$3.3 billion), a 15 percent increase over the same period a year ago. Organic sales declined 2 percent. Profit decreased 6 percent to SEK 2.9 billion (US$403.1 million).
Operating profit margin was negatively affected by impairment of assets, restructuring costs and other items. Compared to the previous year, the order volumes increased for industrial tools and assembly systems and for mining equipment.
For the first nine months, sales were SEK 68.4 billion (US$9.5 billion), up 9 percent year-over-year. Profit fell 6 percent to SEK 11.7 billion (US$1.6 billion).
