Anixter International Inc. (NYSE: AXE), Glenview, IL, reported sales for 2017 of $7.9 billion, up 4 percent year-over-year. Profit was down 10 percent to $109 million.

For the fourth quarter, sales were $2 billion, up 6 percent over the year-ago quarter. Profit was $0.4 million, down from $36.8 million in the fourth quarter of 2016.

For the fourth quarter, network & security solutions sales of $1.1 billion increased slightly over the prior year; electrical & electronic solutions sales of $581.6 million increased 9.8 percent compared to the prior-year period; and utility power solutions sales of $381.3 million increased 9 percent.
