Anixter International Inc. (NYSE: AXE), Glenview, IL, reported first-quarter sales of $1.8 billion, a 31.1 percent increase year-over-year. Organic sales were flat compared to the prior year.

Profit increased 19.4 percent to $22.8 million.

Network & security solutions first-quarter sales increased 2.3 percent year-over-year to $949.1 million, with organic sales up 4.1 percent.

Electrical & electronic solutions sales of $506 million increased 14.8 percent over the same period a year ago. Organic sales growth decreased 7.1 percent.

Utility power solutions sales of $361.1 million increased 1.1 percent on an organic basis.
