AMETEK Inc., Paoli, PA, a global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices, reported sales for 2018 of $4.8 billion, up 11.6 percent over 2017. Profit increased 14.2 percent to $777.9 million.

For the fourth quarter, the company reported sales of $1.3 billion, up 11.2 percent from the same period of 2017. Profit decreased 11.3 percent to $211.5 million.

For the fourth quarter, electronic instruments group segment sales increased 11 percent to $826 million. Operating income increased 11 percent to $214.6 million over the fourth quarter of 2017.

Electromechanical group segment sales increased 11 percent to $445.3 million during the quarter. Operating income in the fourth quarter increased 18 percent to $85.8 million.
