Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN), Seattle, WA, reported second-quarter sales of $52.9 billion, up 39 percent compared to the second quarter of 2017. Net income increased to $2.5 billion in the second quarter, compared with net income of $197 million in the year-ago period, the company said.
Also during the quarter, the company’s Amazon Business segment expanded to Italy and Spain, and now serves businesses in eight countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom., Germany, Japan, India, and France, the company said. Amazon Business now ships to business customers in more than 70 countries worldwide as well.
