Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZ) plans to open a fourth Michigan fulfillment center, in Gaines Township, creating more than 1,000 full-time jobs, the company said.
Employees will pick, pack and ship small items such as books, electronics and toys at the more than 850,000 square-foot facility, which will also employ robotics technology. This is Amazon’s fourth project in Michigan in less than two years.
The announcement follows news in Oklahoma, where Amazon has said it will open a facility featuring robotics technology in Tulsa.
