Airgas, Inc. (NYSE: ARG), Radnor, PA, reported sales for the fiscal full year 2016 ended March 31 of $5.3 billion, flat compared to the previous year. Profit for the year decreased 8.3 percent to $337.5 million.
Organic sales decreased 1 percent compared to the prior year, with gas and rent up 2 percent and hardgoods down 7 percent, while acquisitions contributed sales growth of 1 percent for the year.
Distribution business segment sales decreased 1 percent compared to the prior year, with a decrease in organic sales of 2 percent.
Fourth quarter sales were $1.3 billion, down slightly compared to the previous year. Profit for the quarter decreased 11.8 percent to $77.4 million.
As previously announced, Air Liquide has agreed to acquire Airgas Inc.
