Air Products (NYSE: APD), Lehigh Valley, PA, reported sales for the fiscal second quarter ended March 31 of $2.3 billion, a 6 percent decrease from the previous year. The company reported a loss of $473.3, compared to a prior-year profit of $290 million.
Second quarter industrial gases sales in the Americas were $798 million, a decrease of 10 percent year-over-year. In Europe, the Middle East and Africa sales decreased 6 percent to $420 million, while in Asia sales increased 3 percent to $406 million.
Materials technologies sales for the second quarter were $494 million, a decrease of 7 percent compared to the prior year quarter.
Year-to-date sales were $4.6 billion, down 7 percent from the same period the previous year. The company reported a loss of $109.7, compared to a prior-year profit of $614.6 million.
