Lighting distributor Acuity Brands Inc. (NYSE: AYI), Atlanta, GA, reported sales for the fiscal third quarter ended May 31 of $851.5 million, an increase of 24.5 percent compared to the same period a year earlier. Profit increased 14.7 percent to $74 million.
For the first nine months, sales were $2.4 billion, an increase of 21.5 percent year-over year. Profit grew 28.3 percent to $207.9 million.
"We continued to invest in our strong sales growth and areas with significant future growth potential, including the expansion of our solid state luminaire and controls portfolio as well as our building management, software, and Internet of Things solutions," said Vernon J. Nagel, president and CEO.
