Electrical distributor Mayer — a subsidiary of Rexel USA — has expanded into the Miami-Dade market with the acquisition of Electrical Supplies, Inc.
Based in Miami, Electrical Supplies is an independent distributor founded in 1976 by Fred Segal, Rudy Hinds, Larry Newland and Mike Vavrek. Operating branches located in Pomano Beach, Miami and Homestead. The company has been led by Jim Segal, John Hinds and Bob Devona since 2008.
Terms weren’t disclosed for the deal, which marks Birmingham, AL-based Mayer’s first entry into Southeast Florida.
“This strategic move aligns with our growth goals and proves our ongoing commitment to strategically invest in Mayer,” Rexel USA Chief Executive Roger Little said in a July 11 news release. “By bringing Electrical Supplies, Inc. on board, we can expand our reach and continue to provide best-in-class service and solutions to our customers in Southeastern Florida.”
Rexel’s North American operations charted at No. 3 on MDM’s 2024 Top Electrical/Data/Security Distributors List. Dallas, TX-based Rexel USA has a distribution network of over 450 warehouse storefront locations throughout the United States. Its subsidiaries include Rexel Automation, Gexpro, Mayer and Platt Electric Supply.
Mike Kidney, President of Mayer, highlighted the importance of the acquisition, saying, “The acquisition of Electrical Supplies, Inc. presents a tremendous opportunity for us to enhance our presence and offering in the dynamic Southeastern Florida market,” Mayer President Mike Kidney added. “The complementary strengths of our businesses make this a natural fit, and we are eager to leverage our combined capabilities to drive growth.”
