Phoenix, Arizona-based multifamily property maintenance supplied distributor AZP, also known as AZ Partsmaster, has abruptly closed its doors for good.
MDM learned of the news Wednesday upon seeing several AZP staff members post on LinkedIn that AZP has ceased operations.
AZP Multifamily is a large, privately-held distributor serving the Multifamily industry with products and services to support maintenance, operations and renovations.
A February 2023 article from AZ Big Media shared that the company’s President and CEO, Darren Rawson, said AZP’s 2022 sales were approximately $155 million and that it was eyeing $225 million for 2023.
A phone call to AZP’s main line prompts an automated voice message that says the following:
“Hello, you have reached AZP Multifamily. We regret to inform you that after 40 years of dedicated service, our company will be closing its doors permanently. We want to express our deepest gratitude for your support and loyalty throughout the years. We understand that this news may come as a surprise, and we apologize for any inconvenience it may cause. If you have any questions or concerns, please leave a detailed message after the tone and we will do our best to address them promptly. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you once again for your trust in our company. It has been a privilege serving you, and we sincerely appreciate your business. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.”
AZP’s homepage and most of its website links now no longer function or time out.
AZP was founded in 1985, initially selling and delivering maintenance supplies to owners of apartment complexes. As of February 2023, the company’s presence comprised 13 warehouses between nine U.S. states. The company acquired the MRO division of Murray Supply Co. in mid-2020, adding locations in Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina.
“For me, we’re a $500 million company in five years,” Rawson said in a 2022 interview with In Business Magazine Phoenix. “At that level, we can’t be pushed out of the market; we have to be reckoned with.”
Rawson joined the company as President & CEO in early 2020 after previous roles at Steren Electronics, HD Supply, DispenceSource, SunChoice Medical Supply and Grainger.
AZP’s social media accounts had been posting regularly through July 11.
