On May 10, a coroner in Indiana said that a worker who died after being injured at an Amazon warehouse in the city of Fort Wayne suffered a “blunt force injury,” according to a report from the Associated Press.
Allen County Coroner Dr. Jon Brandenberger said the death of 20-year-old Caes David Gruesbeck has been ruled an accident, according to the AP.
Emergency crews were called to the Amazon Fulfillment Center about noon on May 7 after the injury occurred. After being transported to a hospital, Gruesbeck was pronounced dead.
A sheriff’s official told the AP that the incident is still being investigated but provided no further details. An Amazon spokesperson said the warehouse remains closed and did not say when it would reopen. She said employees are still being paid during the closure, according to the AP.
The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration said it is also investigating the fatal incident.
