Kennametal Inc. (NYSE: KMT), Latrobe, PA, reported sales for the second quarter ended Dec. 31 of $587 million, an increase of 3 percent from the previous year. Organic growth rose 4 percent. Profit was $54.7 million, up from $41.6 million the same quarter a year ago.
Industrial segment sales of $317.3 million were up 1.6 percent compared to the prior year quarter. Infrastructure segment sales of $221.1 million increased 4.7 percent from the prior year.
Year-to-date, Kennametal reported sales of $1.2 billion, up 5.4 percent from the same period a year ago. Profit to date was $111.4 million, up from $80.8 million the first six months of fiscal 2017.
