Nidec Corporation, a Japanese manufacturer and distributor of electric motors, announced March 15 that its subsidiary, Nidec Copal Electronics, has acquired Midori Precisions Co. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 1952, Midori Precisions is a Tokyo-based company that develops, manufactures and sells potentiometers, encoders and other electronic components. While Nidec Copal Electronics manufactures potentiometers and encoders as well, there are “no overlaps in the potentiometer and encoder product lineup” between Nidec and Midori, according to a news release. Nidec also manufactures switches, semi-fixed resistors, pressure sensors, small precision motors and polygon mirrors, among other products.
“Nidec Copal Electronics is focused on its sensing business at present, actively engaging in the transformation of its business portfolio and entry into growth markets,” the company said in the release. “Midori Precisions and Nidec Copal Electronics will be able to generate synergies easily with each other, and expand sales together. In addition, bringing together the two companies’ development resources will likely create synergies for them in the area of new product development.”
