Pharmaceuticals, medical and laboratory products distributor Cardinal Health announced the opening of a new distribution center in Walton Hills, OH.
The facility is expected to be operational by the Spring of 2025 and is more than 30% larger than the Cardinal Health facility location in Solon, OH, which it will replace. All employees will transition to the new facility.
“We’re proud to expand our capabilities in Northeast Ohio, which is a major healthcare hub and a critical market that our medical products and distribution business has serviced for more than 25 years,” Cardinal Health VP of Central Region Operations Sherrick Orie said in an Aug. 21 news release. “This distribution center will feature technology and automation to improve quality of service for our customers and day-to-day work experiences for our employees, as well as the additional storage capacity essential to meeting our customers’ growing needs.”
The building will include next generation technology to support workflow and help move medical products through the facility more efficiently.
In 2023, the company opened two distribution centers in central Ohio to support its U.S. Medical Products and Distribution and At-Home Solution businesses. Cardinal Health also announced a distribution center in the Boston, MA area that is expected to open in late 2024.
Cardinal Health reported its top-line financials on Aug. 14, which showed 4Q24 (April-June) sales growth of 12% year-over-year, while total 2024 fiscal sales of $226.8 billion increased 11% annually alongside net profit of $852 million that jumped 61%.
The company was No. 3 on MDM’s Top Distributor’s List for Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare.
