In an effort to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions from its European supply chain, adhesives manufacturer and distributor Avery Dennison will use plastic pallets supplied by Tosca, a manufacturer of packaging and performance pooling solutions. Tosca announced the partnership with Avery Dennison in a news release Dec. 8.
Avery Dennison will phase the recyclable plastic pallets into its distribution network throughout 2023 as the company looks to replace the wooden pallets it currently uses. Tosca’s collaboration with Avery Dennison will cover the distribution of materials from Avery Dennison plants across the European Union as well as the U.K., Norway, Switzerland and Turkey, according to the release.
Avery decided to partner with Tosca after a series of successful trials for shipments, including one from Avery’s distribution center in Dublin, Ireland.
“The pooling program has been a massive success in Ireland and is helping us to reduce our carbon footprint and eliminate waste within the supply chain,” Avery Dennison Central Packaging Leader Violeta Gómez said. “Customers appreciate the fact that plastic pallets offer standard quality: they are cleaner (dust-free) and with less risk of damaging their products.”
By switching to Tosca’s pooled plastic pallet solutions, Avery Dennison will save over 800 tons of carbon dioxide emissions from its European supply chain annually, according to the release.
